About the Training

The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) is installed on all ships subject to the SOLAS Convention. Deck radio officers must obtain this competency in addition to their navigational duties in order to operate communication systems and take part in emergency and search and rescue operations on ships equipped for Sea Area A1 (voyages no more than 25 miles from the coast).

Who can attend the course?

All deck officers and anyone wishing to become a restricted radio operator (ROC) may attend our courses. To obtain the Restricted Operator's Certificate (ROC), deck officers must first attend a certificate course at our institution and pass the theoretical and practical examination conducted by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications through GASM.

Bilimsel Denizcilik successfully delivers ROC operator courses supported by SINDEL and SAILOR simulators.

In addition to certificate courses, our institution also provides type-specific preparation courses on the SAILOR and SINDEL equipment used in examinations, one week before the practical examinations.

How long is the course?

The training lasts a total of 50 hours and is completed in 7 working days.
