An electro-technical rating is an engine rating competency involving assistance to the electro-technical officer in the operation, maintenance and upkeep of a ship's electrical and electronic systems on automated ships.
Who can attend the course?
Applicants must be over the age of 18, be high school graduates and have at least 24 months of sea service with an oiler competency, or
be graduates of Ministry of National Education secondary-level institutions in industrial automation technologies, electrical-electronic technology, marine electronics and communications, electrical installations and distribution, electrical appliance servicing, electronic systems, electronics and communications, electric vehicles, automotive electromechanics, industrial automation technologies, defence electronic systems, electronic systems, railway electrical-electronics systems, marine engineering operations, industrial maintenance and repair, industrial automation technologies, shipbuilding, yacht building, aircraft electronics, marine engineering operations or renewable energy technologies. Those who meet one of these conditions may attend our electro-technical rating competency course.
How long is the course?
The training consists of 96 hours of theory and 24 hours of practical training, lasting a total of 120 hours over 15 working days.
